Mission Statement:

The West End Gluten Intolerance Group® is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our Mission is to provide support to persons with gluten intolerances, including celiac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis and gluten sensitivities to live healthy lives.

February 5th – Dr. Juan Villalona, MCV Gastroenterologist – “Celiac Disease 101: A Review” – program promises answers to your questions now that you are, or have been celiac for many years.

March 5th– TWEGIG has been invited to an Open House Celebration of 3 Feller’s Gluten-Free Bakery, planned just for the support group. We will meet at the Bakery at 7PM instead of Trinity Church.

April 2nd – Shirley Braden, Leader, King George Celiac Support Group and owner of Gluten Free Easily Blog, - Eating real food that is naturally gluten-fee, and less processed GF foods and specialty items

May 3rd – Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner! Participate in the Chef to Plate National Campaign, Celebrating Restaurants Serving Up Gluten-Free Awareness by dining out gluten-free with your family and relations. Restaurants will be posted at a later time.

May 7th
– Donna Washburn and Heather Butt, cookbook authors – cooking demonstration

TWEGIG Town Hall Meeting – An enjoyable evening of eating and brainstorming the 2010 programming – what we would like to learn and who best could teach us, what outreach we would like to have for the community we live in, and what we would like TWEGIG to be, for people sharing our gluten-free journey. Plan to “dream” with us the ways TWEGIG can be meaningful not only in our lives, but in the lives of the people we serve. Summit Chipotle Mexican Grill (near Innsbrook) have generously offered to donate their gluten-free entrees for attendees to enjoy!

Dr. Stephen Wangen, Founder IBS Treatment Center, WA and author: Healthier Without Wheat, A New Understanding of Wheat Allergies, Celiac Disease, and Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance
 Dr. Stephen Wangen is a licensed and board certified gluten intolerant physician and the founder and Medical Director of the IBS Treatment Center (www.IBSTreatmentCenter.com) located in Seattle, WA. He is a clinical faculty member of Bastyr University and on the Board of Trustees of the Gluten Intolerant Group of North America. He lectures nationally on the topic of gluten intolerance. He published The Irritable Bowel Syndrome Solution in 2005, and Healthier Without Wheat in 2009.
Dr. Rodney Ford, Gastroenterologist, Pediatrician, Author, NZ: The Gluten Syndrome, A Neurological Disease - How to stay healthier gluten-free
Dr. Rodney Ford is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist, and Allergist; Associate Professor of Pediatrics,
University of Otago, New Zealand; Director of The Children’s Clinic, in Christchurch, New Zealand;
Author and Professional Speaker; published over a hundred scientific papers, and many books and book
chapters; Involved in ground-breaking research work in the areas of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
(SIDS), breastfeeding, caffeine exposure, food allergy and now the Gluten Syndrome.
Dr Rodney Ford spends his days in the Children’s Clinic helping families with chronic health problems.
His 30 years of looking after children with food allergy/intolerance has given him keen insight about the
harm of gluten. This has led to the concept of "The Gluten Syndrome". Dr Ford coined this term to
describe the harmful effects of gluten on the brain, the gut and the skin.

$5 per person will be collected at the door to help defray speaker expenses.

December 3rdTWEGIG’s HOLIDAY COOK-OFF! 
First, second and third prizes will be awarded in the following areas: Appetizers, Sides, Entrees, Desserts, and Breads.  A Grand Prize will be also chosen!  The attendees will be the judges!
Start planning which dish you would like to enter in the TWEGIG Holiday Cook-Off!  Plan to join us to sample and cast your vote!
Each entry must be enough for about 65 sample bites and should be brought to the meeting table ready, complete with serving utensils – and a list of the ingredients.
